Entrepreneurial Ideas Pay Off for Regions!

Economic impulses and new jobs are created where companies and research facilities bundle their competences in a region and consistently strive towards making their innovations a success on the market.
This is where the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) comes in with its innovation strategy for the new German Länder. By means of the innovation initiative "Entrepreneurial Regions", the BMBF is supporting regional alliances made up of representatives from industry, science and administration in developing their own future-proof technological profile. The alliances are promoted in order to identify, exploit and expand the strengths and potentials of their region in the long term.
"Entrepreneurial Regions" has been bringing together under a joint umbrella the individual programme lines introduced since 1999 - InnoRegio, Innovative Regional Growth Cores, Innovation Forums, Centres for Innovation Competence and InnoProfiles. The name of the new umbrella brand says it all: it stands for the region-oriented development policy pursued by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and designed to support entrepreneurship. Between 1999 and 2007, the BMBF will provide more than EUR 500 million to support the individual activities encompassed by "Entrepreneurial Regions".
The initiatives and their respective innovation strategies presented on the "Entrepreneurial Regions" website illustrate how the enormous potentials and creative ideas in the new German Länder can be used by and for the regions - all interested parties are invited to further strengthen this dynamic process!
